First of all, if you have still not downloaded the latest version of QTP (Unified Functional Testing – UFT 11.5), you can refer this article on how to download UFT 11.5. Once you have downloaded the trial version from HP website, you can install it by referring the steps mentioned below.

Before you install UFT 11.5

1) Make sure that you have administrator privileges on the drive to which you want to install UFT 11.5.

2) Make sure that you have Internet Explorer 7.0 or later installed on your machine.

3) You can use UFT 11.5 trial version only if you are installing this for the first time in your system. If you have previously installed any other version of QTP in your system, the trial version of UFT 11.5 will not work (UFT will ask for a license when you try to open it)

4) If you have QTP 9.5 or later or Service Test 10.0 or later, then the installation process will first uninstall QTP or Service Test’s older version and will then install UFT 11.5. If you have QTP 9.2 installed on your system, then you must manually uninstall it before installing UFT 11.5.

Step by Step process to install UFT 11.5

I uninstalled the older version of UFT from my machine and tried to install UFT 11.5 trial version. It gives an error asking for License. What could be the problem?

    • Anish10110

Well whenever you uninstall the older version, there are some files that don't get deleted. Because of this if you try to install the trial software again, QTP/UFT will not work and will ask for the license. Only workaround is reinstalling the windows in which case, all the files get deleted.

Go to "registry" and delete all the entries made by HP QTP, then manually remove all the folders related to QTP and then try to re install, or else do the system restore to the point earlier to the date on trial version installation done of your comp/lappy.. 🙂

    • Anish10110

The registry thing didn't work for me.. And I haven't been able to try the system restore thing as there are no restore points before I installed QTP.

i un-installed QTP 11.0 on my machine and installed UFT 11.5 trial version, but installation is getting stuck on the screen (this screen comes after the screen where we select add-ins to install) which states "Please wait for setup to complete the product configuration. This may take several minutes." And the progress bar doesn't move ahead even if i waited for 5-6 hours.

I tried it several times but did not succeed. What would be the reason?

    • Anish10110

      Hi Sagar,

I am not sure why this issue is there. Better option would be to install a VM and try installing QTP on a fresh version of windows.

Note: Because the comment is little long slpitting it to 2-3 postings! Check my below postings also for full details of the issue.

        Part1:

        Hi Anish,

I just now discovered this website (wish I did before my trial UFT 11.5 installation!)…and the issue seen in the above comments is similar to what I am currently facing (the showstopper issue!!).
I was being asked to enter the license information for even Trail period (30 days) for the tool which I don't have anywhere in email from HP or during tool trial download also! I did had a previous trial version of QTP 11 software on my machine which I had uninstalled (but unfortunately there were some QTP related files were left in another folder related to old installation!…now after this issue deleted those old installation files but guess too late as still facing same issue!) before UFT 11.5 trial installation. After reading forums I had looked for file 'lservrc' which would have license information but I did not find it anywhere on my laptop after installation (and uninstallation and deleting of old installation files also).

        Part2:

        @Anish,

As this is a trial version, HP is not providing any support!! Please suggest what are my next steps?…3 questions in particular.

        (1) If I have to make any modifications to registry, what are the exact steps?…
        (2) Once I follow registry steps, can I uninstall the trial UFT 11.5 installation and reinstall again on same machine???…
        (3) If not, what else is the solution?

        Please suggest.

        Regards,
        Angie

    • Adam

I have the same issue. Can't install on the VM because it's not a floating license. Did you get this figured out?

      • Anish10110

        Hi Adam,

Its a trial seat license and would work on fresh windows installation. So this should work on VM.

  • Kanika

I need to reinstall UFT 11.5 Trial version after 30 days once again. Could any one provide me with the exact steps needed to do it. I was going through the earlier comments .I have never explored the registry, hence not sure how to do it .

    • Anish10110

The issue is that people are not aware of what all values to delete from the registry. The normal QTP registry clean up doesn't delete the license information. So when you try to reinstall it, it wont work and would ask for license.

    Hi,
Unfortunately i installed UFT 11.5 trial version with the license wizard. Hence now my trial version is using
my old QTP license. I uninstalled UFT 11.5 and reinstall without running the license wizard but yet
the newly installed UFT 11.5 trial version is using my QTP license. Please let me know how to overcome
this. It would be great if you can provide me the exact steps to remove UFT from registry.

    Regards

    Hi,
How should i install UFT 11.5 trial version if QTP is already installed in my laptop.
I have uninstalled QTP. Please let me know what is the best way to avoid using my QTP license.
    Awaiting a reply

    • If you have installed any version of QTP or UFT previously on your machine, you cant then install any trail version of QTP/UFT.. You have to either reinstall Windows or install QTP/UFT on a virtual machine which has a fresh version of Windows..

    Hi
I am trying to install the UFT 11.50 version on a Windows 2008 R2 server. But I am not able to run it in the trail mode at all. When I launch the HP Unified Functional Testing app it asks for a license server. During installation I never got the screen for selection of license type either. My question is can we install a trial version of UFT 11.50 on a Windows 2008 machine? If yes then how? How I can change the setting for the UFT to work in trail mode? Note I have been able to install this on a Windows 7 machine successfully and run UFT in trial mode(I didn’t run the License installation wizard there as per one post I read at internet later). However same steps doesn’t work on Windows 2008. I am now thinking may be this is a server machine that is why I can’t run trial version? Please comment.

    Thanks
    Hari

I can't get 11.5 to install. I don't have and have never had QTP on my system. When I double click the setup.exe file I get a pop up that says No Background Bmp defined in section "General" entry "BGBmp". Then I click ok and I get a new message No Application Name defined in section "General" entry "App Text". Then a white box appears. I am guessing this should be the start screen but it never changes from a white box. What am I doing wrong?

    Hi Anish,
I recently got a Windows 8 laptop.. Is UFT 11.5 compatible to work on Windows 8 or should I create a VM to install UFT 11.5?

  • Gaurav

Could you sent me the steps to uninstall UFT by cleaning registry

  • babu

As per my guess: better to take the back of registry before you going to install trail version of QTP/UFT.
after it expires..import the registry(that took before you install QTP)

    Try it:

Hi, My UFT 11.5 trail version is expired. Can you help me how to go ahead from here.

    1) If I have deleted from registry.
    (2) Deleted all folders from C drive, I uninstalled the trial UFT 11.5 installation and reinstall again on same machine???…
    (3) If not, what else is the solution?
